Judith Roitman

Judy Roitman (Zen Master Bon Hae) began Zen practice in 1976 at the Cambridge Zen Center with Zen Master Seung Sahn. She moved to Lawrence KS in 1978 and was one of the founding members of the Kansas Zen Center, receiving inka (authorization to teach) from Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1998 and transmission from Zen Master Dae Kwang in 2013. She retired from the mathematics department at the University of Kansas in 2014. Her poetry can be found both online and in print (actually, mostly out of print) from a number of small press publishers. Her husband is the translator and classics scholar Stanley Lombardo (Zen Master Hae Kwang); they are lucky enough to live in the same town as their son and granddaughter.
