Tenney Nathanson

Tenney Nathanson is a Sensei with Joan Sutherland's Open Source. He's studied with Joan since 1997 and was authorized by her to teach in 2012. With Jennifer Sellers (Head of Practice) he started Tucson's Desert Rain Zen (http://www.desertrainzen.org/) in 2008. Desert Rain is part of the Pacific Zen School, which includes John Tarrant's Pacific Zen Institute as well as the Open Source. It's a Koan Zen lineage that works with koans in both traditional and innovative ways.

Tenney is a professor of English at the University of Arizona in Tucson. His academic field is American poetry, which he commits as well as studies.

He grew up in New York (the Bronx and Manhattan) but has lived in Tucson since 1985. His kids don't believe Brooklyn is a real place.
