Marisa Seishin Cespedes

Marisa Seishin Cespedes, Sensei, began practicing meditation in the mid-90s and joined Still Mind Zendo in 2003, becoming a student of Roshi Janet Jiryu Abels. In 2008, she received Jukai, the Buddhist Precepts, and in January 2013, she became a Dharma holder. She received Denbo-Dharma Transmission in April 2016, becoming Roshi Janet's first dharma successor. At that time, she also received Lay Denkai.

Sensei Marisa was born and raised in Mexico City. She lives in New York City where she has worked since 1988 as the New York news correspondent and bureau chief for an international television network. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
